William and Elizabeth Bybee founded and built Bybee Estate between 1857 and 1861, and from the start it was a place made for gathering. William was known for hosting extravagant parties, accommodating guests in need of lodging, and organizing lively carnivals.
Over the decades, the inn has witnessed Jacksonville’s transformation from frontier town to the charming historic destination it is today.
Nearly two centuries later, the home’s original Classical Revival style is preserved through its wood floors, moldings, windows, and craftsmanship. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
